Ancient fresco

The term "mural" comes from the Italian expression "a fresco" - a letter on a wet (even on wet limestone with colors).

In our time, it is used as a mural decoration of the interiors and exteriors, creating fragments of historical stylization, transforming the space and creating an image of the époque.

Fresco was widely used in the past centuries in ancient Greece, Rome, Byzantium, Russia of the X-XIIth centuries (in Kiev, Novgorod, Pskov). The heyday of this art was in the Renaissance.

In this technique outstanding Russian masters worked such as Andrei Rublev and Dionysius, in Italy during the Renaissance - Raphael, Michelangelo and others.
